About

  1. GESPENSTER is a visual project developed through drawing, AI-assisted image transformation, animation and sound.

Process & Tools

  1. Everything starts by hand: fifty drawings in gouache on A4 paper, made in 2022. The AI models are trained on those drawings.

  2. GESPENSTER is developed through a hybrid process combining hand drawing, AI-assisted image transformation, digital editing, animation and music.

  3. The visual process has included Stable Diffusion, Krea and Flux, with custom LoRAs trained from original drawings. Images are then reworked through tools such as Photopea, MOSH and Topaz.

  4. The animation process evolved from iMovie to CapCut and, more recently, Final Cut Pro.

  5. The films are not generated or animated automatically. Selection, animation, cutting, rhythm, repetition and montage are done by hand.

  6. Music is developed using Suno and Logic Pro.

  7. Rather than functioning as separate technologies, these tools form part of a continuous process of drawing, training, transforming, layering, editing and composing.

GESPENSTER Live

  1. GESPENSTER LIVE is an audiovisual performance conceived to adapt to different spaces, formats and durations. It can unfold on a single screen or across multiple surfaces, with its original music or with a live DJ.

  2. With up to 45 minutes of visual material, the performance has no fixed form and can be reshaped for each space and context. It is conceived as a live, hypnotic and immersive experience.

Bio

Ety Fefer (Lima, 1973) works in sculpture, mechanical installation, drawing, animation and sound. Her projects include Grumildos, presented internationally; Guerreros, Monstruos y Bestias (2010–2014), created with José Tola; and Maîtres Fous, an ongoing series of sculptures. GESPENSTER, begun in 2022, brings together drawing, digital image, animation, music and live performance.
